The Channel Announcements feature allows users to automate event notifications in designated announcement channels. This feature is ideal for keeping your audience informed about upcoming events by tagging specific roles and sending timely reminders.

Role-based Notifications

  • Select specific roles to notify when an announcement is posted.
  • Example: Notify only "Active Users" and "Supporter" roles.

  • Schedule announcements based on event timings.
  • Use pre-defined options like "1 hour before event starts" or create custom times.

How to Configure Announcements

1. Select Roles

  • Use the dropdown menu under Select roles to tag with the announcement message.
  • Choose one or more roles from the available list.
  • Selected roles will appear as tags (e.g., Active Users, Supporter).

2. Set Notification Timing

  • Use the dropdown under Select time to share event as a message in announcement channel.
  • Choose from preset options like:
  • "1 hour before event starts"
  • "10 minutes before event starts"
  • Alternatively, add a custom timing:
  1. Enter a numeric value in the input field.
  2. Select the time unit (e.g., Minutes, Hours, Days).
  3. Click Add Custom Option to include it.

3. Save Your Settings

  • Click the Save Announcements button to apply your configurations.

Example Use Case

  1. Scenario: An event is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
  2. Configuration:
  • Notify Active Users and Supporter roles.
  • Send a message 1 hour before the event and 10 minutes before the event starts.
  1. Outcome: Selected roles will receive notifications at 2:00 PM and 2:50 PM in the announcement channel.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Target Relevant Roles: Only tag roles directly involved or interested in the event to avoid spamming unrelated users.
  • Use Custom Options Wisely: Schedule multiple reminders for critical events.
  • Test Notifications: Before major events, test this feature with a small group to ensure proper configuration.

Troubleshooting

  • Roles Not Receiving Notifications: Ensure roles are properly assigned in your platform settings.
  • Custom Timing Not Appearing: Verify you clicked Add Custom Option after setting your time.
  • Announcements Not Posting: Double-check that you’ve saved your settings with the Save Announcements button.
